This vintage Oneida shell dish is one of them.

Made in Oneida, New York, this mid-century silver-plated serving piece takes its shape from the scallop shell, with sculpted fluting and a gracefully scalloped edge that catches the light. Its classic silver finish and organic form make it equally at home on a dining table, vanity, or sideboard.

I was drawn to its unmistakable maritime character and the way it brings together vintage entertaining and coastal living. Use it to serve small sweets, hold jewelry, collect keys, or simply let it stand on its own as a decorative accent. It’s a piece with a little history behind it and plenty of possibilities ahead.

Details

Maker: Oneida Ltd.

Era: Mid-century

Material: Silver-plated metal

Design: Sculpted scallop shell with fluted detailing

Item number: 03-623

Origin: Made in Oneida, New York, USA

Included: Shell dish and original cardboard factory box; serving spoon is not included

A Note on Its History

The original presentation when I discovered it carried a commemorative label for the Class of ’34’s 25th anniversary celebration, dated June 20, 1959.
